Remix Activity

In my opinion, the internet is capable of empowering all types of people on all types of platforms. This can be dangerous depending on the message an influencer is trying to spread, but can also be very beneficial to its audience. Influencers are given a lot of freedom that comes with a lot of risks. If these people are careful there should be no fear involved, and spreading positivity should be focused on.

I believe that copyright should be slightly modified. Sometimes people create unique pieces of work that happen to be similar to someone else’s equally unique piece of work. With so many people on the Internet throughout the world, it is bound to happen that a few individuals will have similar ideas at one point or another. Sometimes this accidental “copying” is unintentional, and can be very hard to get out of if actually caught by copyright laws.

I have chosen to work with the Public Domain license. Tik Tok belongs to the public as a whole when one is chosen to be published. In my case, my best friend and I made a remix to a semi-popular dance that she published to her account, and anyone is allowed to see or remake.

My experience making my remix piece was very fun. We remade a tik tok by learning a dance that many people have made in the past. We were able to put our own spin on it, and then re-share it to the public. It came out better than expected, because we both learned the dance quickly, and there were no surprises or challenges.
