Now that the race has ended
The team cannot be mended
He doesn’t even run anymore
Not the person I knew before
Unrecognizable to me
With the sudden urge to flee
All the words you spoke
Away in a puff of smoke
With each promise to stay
A new price I had to pay
With each promise to stay
A new price I had to pay
With fragile emotions
I only wanted his devotion
With every glimpse of hope
I am unable to cope
A future and a dream
Used to make me beam
Not believeing it’s real
I forget how to feel
With each promise to stay
A new price I had to pay
With each promise to stay
A new price I had to pay
I was trying to think about personal experiences while writing my song. My process to writing my song was coming up with a rhyme scheme and lyrics. I would come up with a few different variations of lines and ask a few of my friends which one fit best. It was way easier than I expected once I started doing it. I was surprised at how good of an outlet it actually was. While my song is probably not the best, I do think it turned out better than I was expecting. I am not sure if I will write another song, but the activity did make me realize that writing out feelings could be a good outlet for me. If I were to write another song, I would imagine it would be another love song, but maybe not of the pop genre.
